โœฆ Hiring guide

How much does it actually cost to hire a content team?

If you have ever tried to budget for content, you have probably noticed that prices are all over the place. A freelancer on Upwork might charge $20 for a blog post. A New York agency might charge $2,500 for the same thing. Both will tell you their price is fair. Neither is exactly wrong. Here is how to think about it.

How much does it cost to hire an SEO content writer?

The honest range in 2026 is roughly $50 to $500 per piece, depending on who you hire. Marketplace freelancers sit at $20 to $80, but quality varies wildly and most do not handle real SEO strategy. Mid-tier specialists charge $100 to $300 per piece. Premium US and UK agencies start around $400 and go up from there.

Writerlize sits intentionally in the middle of that range. Our Starter plan delivers four SEO blog posts a month at $350, which works out to roughly $87 per piece, with keyword strategy, editorial review, and revisions included. Our Growth plan at $650 a month covers eight pieces. That is meaningful below US agency rates but well above commodity freelancer pricing, because the work behind it is editorial-led and strategic, not template-driven.

How much does a LinkedIn ghostwriter cost?

LinkedIn ghostwriting is one of the most variable services in the market. Independent ghostwriters with a track record typically charge $1,500 to $5,000 a month for a founder retainer. Agencies often charge $3,000 and up. The cheap end exists but the results usually do too.

Our LinkedIn ghostwriting services run $250 to $1,000 a month. The $250 Presence plan gets you eight posts and a real voice and tone session. The $650 Authority plan adds a newsletter and a monthly strategy call. The $1,000 Executive plan is a full-suite presence including carousels via Retoldly. We can offer that range because we operate from Africa with a remote-first model, not from a Manhattan office with overhead baked into every line item.

How much does book editing cost?

Book editing pricing depends entirely on the depth of work and the length of the manuscript. Proofreading sits at roughly $0.01 to $0.02 per word. Copyediting runs $0.02 to $0.04 per word. Developmental editing, which involves restructuring and rewriting at the chapter level, can reach $0.05 to $0.10 per word. A 60,000-word manuscript at developmental rates can land between $3,000 and $6,000 depending on the editor.

We do not publish a flat rate for book editing because manuscripts vary too much for that to be honest. What we do offer is a free manuscript review where we assess the work, recommend the right service tier, and quote properly before you commit. No surprise invoices.

Is AI content editing worth paying for?

The cheaper answer is no, just use ChatGPT and clean it up yourself. The honest answer is that most people who try this end up publishing content that does not rank, does not convert, and does not build trust, because AI does not catch fabricated statistics, off-brand voice, or generic structure. You can either build that editorial layer in-house, hire someone to do it, or stop publishing AI content entirely.

Our AI Content Editing starts at $65 per piece. That covers brand voice correction, fact-checking, structural refinement, and SEO and AEO optimisation in one pass. If you are publishing AI content without that layer, you are almost certainly damaging your search reputation. If you are publishing it with that layer, AI is a real efficiency win.

How to think about content pricing without overpaying

The cheapest option almost always costs more in the end. You either replace it after three months, fix it yourself, or watch it underperform. The most expensive option is not always the best either. Most premium agencies are priced for budgets that include New York office rent and venture capital pressure, not the value of the work itself.

Look for the editorial layer, the strategy, the dedicated writer, and the revision process. That is what separates content that performs from content that disappears. Writerlize is built around exactly those things, at a price that respects your budget without underselling what we do.
